POSITION DETAILS: This position works 40 Weeks per year, 5 days per week at 8 hours per day. The position begins approximately four days before school begins and ends on the last day of school.

The hourly rate for a current EVSC paraprofessional will be based on years of service with EVSC in a paraprofessional role. Annual, incremental pay increases are given for each year of service with the EVSC in this role if an employee has worked 120 days in a school year. New employees will begin on year 1.

EVSC employees have access to the EVSC Wee Care Learning Centers.  The Wee Care program provides a quality early learning experience for employees' children as young as six weeks through age five at a special employee rate.  

This position will automatically be enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement Fund (PERF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA).  Employees may also participate in a 403(b) Plan.  Enrolling in the 403(b) plan allows employees to save for their retirement by making a pre-tax salary deferral contributions to the Plan.

Eligible employees may enroll in the EVSC group life insurance and long term disability plans. EVSC also offers a variety of voluntary insurance products through American Fidelity. 

EVSC offers a free Employee Assistance Program (EAP). It is a confidential, voluntary service that provides professional counseling and referral services designed to help employees and their family members with personal, job or family-related matters.
REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Previous office experience preferred. 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is based upon student enrollment in this school building. Fluctuating student enrollment may make it necessary to move an employee to another school building or reduction in hours. Enrollment is evaluated at the start of a new school year. The EVSC works diligently to ensure employees maintain the position that they are hired for but in some cases, transfers may occur in order to effectively serve EVSC students.

 

SUMMARY:  

Maintains attendance records and works to create a pleasant, helpful atmosphere for the staff, students, parents and visitors.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Other duties may be assigned.

  • Makes and receives telephone calls, takes messages, and routes calls, including parent reports of absences and taries.
  • Enters all student attendance records into a computer on a daily basis.
  • Responds to inquiries from students, teachers, and parents regarding attendance rules and absences.
  • Compiles and submits a variety of daily, weekly, monthly, and year-end reports as required.
  • Works with probation officer and police liaison officer.
  • Admits late students and maintains records of their tardiness.
  • Maintains all incoming statements to the school nurse regarding doctors’ appointments.
  • Oversees student “sign out” process and maintains records of student absence due to appointments.
  • Types, prepares, distributes, and files records, reports, and correspondence which are related to attendance.
  • Operates standard office equipment, e.g., computer (data entry), telephone, calculator, and copy machines and telephone.
  • Prepares verification forms for teachers for one-period absences.
  • Prepares computerized attendance sheets.
  • Maintains regular attendance.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Previous office experience preferred. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, textbooks, and government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and general correspondence.
  • Ability, both orally and in writing, to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from individuals and groups of educators, administrators, parents, students, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and common fractions.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.
