Position Details: The EVSC is looking for individuals who are passtionate about early learning! We have several positions available in EVSC's Wee Care Early Learning Program that offers a flexible schedule. Wee Care is an employee only program that provides early learning for children 6 weeks old through preschool age. 

The 186-day work schedule is based on a school year, 5 days per week and 4 hours per day. Scheduled hours vary. 

This position is based upon Wee Care enrollment in the building. Fluctuating enrollment as well as ratio requirements may make it necessary to move an employee to another building or reduction in hours. Enrollment is evaluated at the start of a new school year. The EVSC works diligently to ensure employees maintain the position that they are hired for but in some cases, transfers may occur in order to effectively serve Wee Care children.

Annual, incremental pay increases are given for each year of service with the EVSC in this role if an employee has worked 120 days in a school year.  New employees begin on year 1.

Additional Requirements: Prior to employment, applicants must complete the following:
  • National criminal background check, including fingerprints, and Child Protective Index check 
  • Physical, TB Test and Drug Screen
  • Online training for: Child Abuse and Neglect, Foundations, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Safe Sleep

SUMMARY:  

Assists the early childhood instructor in daily classroom and building activities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead/Assist with small-group activities.
  • Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and other functions while using positive approach to behavior management.
  • Assist with Family Engagement activities.
  • Presents a pleasant, caring, respectful attitude toward children.
  • Assists with set up of classroom and prepares materials for specialized instructional
  • Assist with attendance reports and related clerical functions.
  • Assist with collecting and displaying documentation.
  • Operate standard school equipment, e.g., copier, laminator, technology, audiovisual
  • Escort and supervise children as they move to and from various rooms.
  • Supervise children within the building, on the playground, and on field trips.
  • Assist with toileting and self-care needs of children when necessary (may include diapering).
  • Complete other activities as assigned.
  • Attend professional development.
  • Participate in PLC’s.
  • Maintains regular attendance.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Experience in early childhood preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend correspondence, memos, instructions, and documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. 
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence clearly and concisely and using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 
  • Ability to speak effectively with good grammar with individuals.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and/or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
