SUMMARY:
The High School Instructional Leadership Specialist designs and delivers innovative, flexible structures and services that are responsive to school-site needs in order to drive dramatic transformational improvement in student achievement. The Instructional Leadership Specialist is tasked with providing support in the implementation of School Improvement Plans and systems to drive decision-making, progress monitoring, leadership development and efficiency to improve student achievement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Develops and provides professional development modules and leadership development support
Supports the development and execution of comprehensive academic, social and emotional learning strategies for assigned zone schools or programs
Develops and supports schools/programs in the implementation of progress monitoring systems specific to school/program improvement strategies
Supports School Leadership Teams (SLTs) as they meet regularly to discuss progress monitoring data
Works with school staff to establish action plans that align to school improvement strategies, performance goals and benchmarks
Coordinates work with Office of Performance, Assessment, and Research staff to utilize district data warehouse and monitor school progress (incl. implementation and results) to promote heightened accountability across assigned schools/programs
Coordinates with various district departments to ensure Innovative Model Schools and Harwood Centers are prioritized and receive necessary, timely supports
Provides subject matter expertise in the areas of systems development, instructional design/delivery and social/emotional learning
Researches applicable evidence-based strategies for school improvement
Facilitates discussions among key decision-makers to analyze achievement and instructional information and organize thinking to solve problems and make decisions that are aligned with strategic goals
Facilitates the creation and implementation of professional development long range plans for assigned schools/programs
Possesses characteristics relative to giving and gaining respect; shows empathy and works collaboratively with a large group of diverse constituents
Able to lead and model advanced instructional and administrative 21st Century technology skills; demonstrates ability to serve as a technology accelerator
Develops materials and toolkits to support school/zone transformation efforts
Provides evaluation support to school leadership (as needed)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required
Advanced degree preferred
Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience (Teaching and using data to drive instruction in a learning-centered environment and/or educational administration)
Experience with technology; (Excel and Google applications required)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Administrator License and/or willingness to work to obtain a license preferred.
